Lesson # 1 - Basic Expressions

Let's start off the Tagalog Lesson Series with some basic expressions... I'm sure many of you interested learning Tagalog already know most of these, but I'll go through them anyway.

Kamusta – Hello

Kamusta ka? – How are you?   

Mabuti I’m fine.       

Salamat – Thank you.     

Walang anuman – You’re welcome. 

Paalam – Good bye.

Oo – Yes

Hindi – No

So the last vowel "i" is usually pronounced as "에", right?

Sure! Glad to know you liked the lessons.

I think people from Manila such as myself and the immediate surrounding region pronounce 'i' as "에" but in other parts of the Philippines where the pronunciation of Tagalog is still more traditional, the pronunciation is closer to "이." However not all words ending in "i" can be pronounced as "에." I'm sure you will pick it up in the future lessons.
